The Road Here
The Early Breakaway
I grew up racing. From the age of 12, weekends were defined by criteriums and road races. There were podiums, national victories, and the singular focus of a young athlete. But as the sport became serious, the joy began to fade. I stepped away to focus on education, leaving the bike in the garage.
The Climb Back
Years later, life brought me back to the bike in the most profound way. My father fell ill with colon cancer. We made a plan: we would ride Alpe d'Huez together. It was a goal, a beacon of hope. Tragically, he passed away on May 26, 2010, before we could make that climb. I rode it for him. That ride wasn't just physical; it was an emotional awakening.
Finding Rhythm
Cycling became my anchor. I returned to elite racing, but with a new perspective. It wasn't just about winning anymore; it was about the resilience, the discipline, and the sheer beauty of the sport. From Gran Fondos to gravel adventures, I found a sustainable rhythm that balanced performance with pleasure.
The Next Generation
Today, cycling is a shared language. It's holidays planned around routes, it's exploring new roads with my partner, and it's the hope of passing this freedom to my children. Velociety is built on this foundation: that a life on the bike is a life well-lived.
